Client Overview
Our client is a leading petrochemical company facing challenges with the maintenance and repair of their aging pipeline infrastructure. The pipelines, essential for transporting critical materials, requiring high-precision welding services to ensure operational integrity and comply with industry safety standards.
Project Scope
The project involved:
- Consultation with client: Liaising with the client to confirm areas and methods of repair while staying in accordance with the relevant standard (ASME) (BSEN)
- Welding Services: High-pressure pipe welding to replace and reinforce sections of the pipeline, ensuring compliance with ASME and BS EN standards.
- Quality Assurance: Implementation of rigorous quality control measures throughout the process.
- Documentation: Creation and submission of QA documents to the client including welder qualifications, material certification, welding traceability, and NDT Reports.
Objectives
- To ensure the safety and functionality of the client’s pipeline system.
- To complete the repairs without disrupting the operational workflow of the facility.
- To adhere to strict deadlines while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Approach
- Initial Assessment: Discussion with the client to identify method of repair. In this instance we received isometric drawings from the client which we used to accurately cost the job and provide a realistic completion schedule. These were also interpreted by our skilled piping engineers in order to fabricate and weld the pipe spools.
- Tailored Welding Solutions: Based on the assessment, we developed a customised welding strategy utilising advanced techniques—specifically, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding—suitable for high-pressure applications.
- Technology and Equipment: We utilised state-of-the-art welding technology and equipment to enhance precision and efficiency during the process.
- Regulatory Compliance: Throughout the project, we ensured adherence to ASME and BS EN standards, conducting regular inspections and audits to maintain compliance.
- Safety Protocols: Implementing a strict safety culture, we ensured that all team members were trained in safe work practices specific to welding operations, minimising risks and enhancing workplace safety.
Results
- On-time Project Delivery: The project was completed ahead of schedule, ensuring the client’s operations were minimally affected.
- Quality Assurance: We delivered high-quality welds that met and exceeded ASME and BS EN specifications, providing robust solutions for the client’s pipeline needs.
- Enhanced Pipeline Integrity: The repaired section was NDT tested to the required standard and pressure tested to the client’s required operating pressure to ensure the integrity of all welds and flange joints to eliminate any risk of leakage.
Conclusion
This project is a testament to our commitment to excellence in the pipe welding and fabrication services we offer. By leveraging our expertise in high-pressure welding techniques, adhering strictly to industry standards, and prioritising safety, we successfully enhanced the integrity and functionality of the client’s pipeline system, ultimately supporting their operational objectives in the petrochemical sector.
